Senior Data Engineer

Compensation Overview Annual base salary range: $139,400.00 – $230,000.00. The actual salary will be determined by factors such as scope, complexity, location, skills, and experience. Opportunity As a Senior Data Engineer on the Travelers Data Engineering team, you will accelerate the growth and transformation of the analytics landscape by designing, building, and deploying data solutions that support Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and business intelligence. Responsibilities Build and operationalize complex data solutions, correct problems, apply transformations, and recommend data cleansing/quality solutions. Design complex data solutions, incorporating new data sources and ensuring designs are consistent across projects and aligned to data strategies. Perform analysis of complex sources to determine value, usage, and recommend data to include in analytical processes. Incorporate core data management competencies, including data governance, data security, and data quality. Act as a data and technology subject matter expert within lines of business to support delivery and educate end users on data products and analytics environment. Perform data and system analysis, assessment, and resolution for defects and incidents of high complexity and correct as appropriate. Collaborate across teams to support delivery and educate end users on complex data products and analytical environment. Perform other duties as assigned. Ideal Candidate Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM related field or equivalent. Ten years of related experience. Advanced knowledge of ETL tools such as Abinitio and Databricks, AWS cloud platforms, and programming languages including Python and SQL. Strong delivery skills, including determining software design strategy, using automated tests, analysis, and informed feedback loops to ensure quality and production readiness. Demonstrated domain expertise and the ability to develop business partnerships, influence priorities, and share knowledge with coworkers. Strong problem‑solving abilities, using data and proofs of concept to find creative solutions to complex problems. Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technology concepts in business terms. Ability to lead, take action without a clear owner, inspire and motivate others, and influence team members. Must Have Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related STEM field, or equivalent experience. Six additional years of data engineering experience.
