Software Developer Cyber SWE - Early Career Engineer

Description This position is a Software Engineer in Lockheed Martin’s External Referral Program. The role focuses on developing, maintaining, and enhancing complex software systems, including processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, and real‑time systems. Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and enhance software systems based on documented requirements. Work individually or as part of a team. Review and test software components to ensure adherence to design requirements; document test results. Resolve software problem reports and improve software reliability. Apply software development and design methodologies appropriate to the environment. Provide input on system design, including hardware/software trade‑offs, software reuse, and use of COTS/GOTS. Analyze requirements and synthesize them from system level to individual software components. Qualifications Current DoD Top Secret SCI with Polygraph. High School Diploma or GED plus four (4) years of general software engineering experience. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. Desired Skills Analyze & Define Requirements – Gather user needs and translate them into software design and performance specifications. Design & Develop Software – Create new software components or enhance existing ones. Algorithm & Performance Engineering – Design or implement algorithms meeting system performance and functional standards. Integration & Deployment – Incorporate existing software into new or modified systems and operating environments. Data Management & Query Development – Design and build complex database or data‑repository interfaces; write simple data queries. Debugging & Maintenance – Identify defects, debug code, apply corrective fixes; modify software to resolve errors. Testing & Validation – Assist in creating and executing test procedures; document results and ensure compliance. Documentation & Process Improvement – Write or review documentation; recommend enhancements to standards and processes. Lead project teams at the appropriate development methodology level. Work closely with users, system engineers, and stakeholders to analyze system flow, data usage, and work processes. Clearance Level TS/SCI with Poly SP.
