Job Opportunity: Full-Time Outpatient Adult Psychiatrist

Our organization is excited to announce an opening for a full-time Outpatient Adult Psychiatrist at a healthcare facility in Schenectady, NY. With over 50 years of experience, our psychiatry department has been dedicated to assisting individuals in overcoming mental health challenges, providing specialized services for adults, children, and adolescents.

The adult outpatient clinic, located in a newly renovated area, fosters a supportive, collaborative, and interdisciplinary atmosphere, delivering exceptional mental health care to a diverse population. Our clinic offers a variety of programs and services, including:

• Integrated primary care
• Medication management
• Individual and group therapy
• Personalized recovery-oriented services (PROS)
• Crisis diversion services for adults, children, and families

Position Overview

The psychiatrist will be responsible for evaluating and treating adult patients facing a wide array of mental health issues, such as:

• Mood disorders
• Psychotic disorders
• Anxiety disorders
• Trauma- and stressor-related disorders
• Personality disorders
• Dual diagnosis conditions

Initial intake appointments allow for up to 90 minutes, with follow-up sessions lasting up to 30 minutes. In addition to medication management, there are opportunities for those interested in providing individual psychotherapy or leading therapy groups.

Work Schedule

Position hours are Monday through Friday, with options for 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts. Call responsibilities are compensated additionally, typically on a voluntary basis. The usual call schedule includes:

• One weeknight (telephone only) every four weeks
• One weekend (in-person) every eight weeks

Qualifications

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

• MD or DO degree
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
• DEA and NYS licensure required
• Experience in treating an adult psychiatric patient population
• Strong clinical and communication skills, with a commitment to team-oriented care

Compensation Package

Our organization offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including:

• Base compensation ranging from $318,449 to $354,957, based on experience, with potential for additional earnings through quality incentives
• Starting bonus of $35,000
• Retention bonuses of $15,000 at the beginning of years 2 and 3
• CME allowance and other benefits provided by the medical group
• Relocation assistance available
