Security Operations Engineer

Salary: $120,000 - 165,000 per year Requirements:

• We require U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance or higher, or immediate eligibility for reinstatement within 24 months from a prior cleared GovCon or DoD role.
• We are looking for someone with a bachelors degree in a relevant technical discipline, or equivalent training and professional experience in systems administration or security operations.
• We need a hands-on individual contributor who is focused on technical execution rather than people management.
• We expect strong Linux and Windows systems administration experience, including bare-metal and virtualized environments, with Ubuntu Server familiarity.
• We need practical network infrastructure experience, including configuring and troubleshooting firewalls, switches, VPNs, VLANs, and ACLs.
• We expect scripting and automation ability in Bash, Python, or PowerShell to support backups, patching, and compliance monitoring.
• We need working knowledge of NISPOM and NIST 800-171 / 800-53 security controls.
• We expect comfort with cloud applications, desktop software, database support, and CI/CD or automated deployment pipelines.
• We value strong communication, collaboration, and the ability to translate security processes clearly for teammates.
• We want someone who shows resilience to feedback, learns quickly, adapts processes when needed, and takes full ownership of assigned systems and documentation.

• We will rely on you to serve as the primary onsite administrator for secure air-gapped networks and local server systems in Seattle.
• You will configure, build, secure, and troubleshoot Windows and Ubuntu workstations and servers.
• You will manage local network routing, firewalls, VPNs, and central monitoring, while supporting vulnerability scan reporting.
• You will help maintain compliance with DCSA, NIST, NISP, and NISPOM requirements through clear, documented processes.
• You will coordinate local branch cloud services and on-premises tools, including Google Workspace, Slack, GitLab repositories, and LDAP user management.
• You will support desktop and infrastructure issues as the local technical point of contact for the Seattle office.
• You will manage personnel and physical security workflows, including background investigations, secure visits, and asset tracking.
• You will partner with our Corporate FSO to distribute, track, and reinforce required security training and conduct self-inspections.
• You will collaborate closely with our corporate systems and security teams to keep operations seamless and compliant.
• You will identify and solve infrastructure obstacles in a way that enables our scientists and engineers to work effectively.
