Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Behavioral Health - Inpatient Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: 2 Years Behavioral Health Experience, Pediatric Experience License: Michigan State License Certifications: BLS Must-Have: 2 Years Behavioral Health Experience, Pediatric Experience Description: The Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for performing the nursing process as the basis for patient care. Registered Nurses provide direction and oversight to other licensed and non-licensed staff. Registered Nurses show compassion to recipients of services, coworkers, and surrounding communities through integrity, stewardship, empowerment, promotion of diversity, and professional excellence. The Registered Nurse must demonstrate excellent customer service and have enthusiasm for the program and the organization. The Registered Nurse assesses persons served care needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, and continually reassesses the plan of care according to persons served care needs. In collaboration with the physician, the Registered Nurse provides and coordinates nursing care to individuals and groups of persons served. The Registered Nurse assists in teaching persons served and families, and provides milieu management. The Registered Nurse communicates with and educates persons served and families/significant others in discharge and aftercare planning needs. The Registered Nurse provides a safe and secure environment for persons served and staff in both individual and group settings. The Registered Nurse is responsible for documenting, reporting, and verifying all necessary information according to established policies and procedures. The Registered Nurse monitors and reports to the physician any potential risk to persons served safety that could lead to an adverse outcome. The Registered Nurse creates a customer-friendly environment by following quality improvement standards, maintaining professionalism, and initiating and maintaining positive relationships with departments, coworkers, and external customers. The Registered Nurse provides care in various clinical settings with diverse populations. The Registered Nurse identifies specific persons served needs and implements person-centered, compassionate care. The Registered Nurse functions as a clinical leader, delegating and coordinating staff assignments and promoting staff development. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the utilization and continued review of patient care protocols, standards of practice, and standards of care. The Registered Nurse provides input into processes for improvement and promotes careful use of resources. The Registered Nurse may be responsible for training direct care staff. The Registered Nurse may be indirectly responsible for oversight of medication and physical health activities in the program. The Registered Nurse may be responsible for scheduling, staffing, and obtaining pre-authorizations. The Registered Nurse is responsible for role modeling the mission and values of the organization, presenting a professional image projected in appearance, attitudes, behaviors, time management, and communication skills. The Registered Nurse provides spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to patients. In residential settings, the Registered Nurse supports and promotes a recovery-focused environment and a person-centered approach within the program. The Registered Nurse is committed to demonstrating the Hospital and Residential Services Model of Care. The Registered Nurse is responsible for upholding the healing ministry of Christ through relationships that honor integrity, stewardship, empowerment, promotion of diversity, equity, inclusion, and professional excellence. The Registered Nurse must maintain annual training and demonstrate competency in required training. The Registered Nurse may perform other duties or functions as assigned. The Registered Nurse may function as a charge nurse.
