POSITION: Summer Speech Language Pathologist

LOCATION: Flatwoods Elementary/Braxton County Board of Education Offfice

CLASSIFICATION : Professional


REPORTS TO : Special Education Director

EVALUATION : Evaluations conducted as defined in West Virginia Board of Education Policy 5310 and BCBOE Policy 3250.

FLSA STATUS : Exempt

CONTRACT : July 1-31 Contingent upon student enrollment and continued student particpation.

SALARY : $25 per hour


EFFECTIVE: At the direction of the Special Education Director

CERTIFICATIONS / QUALIFICATIONS:

• Graduate of an approved school of Occupational Therapy
• Licensed in West Virginia by the Occupational Therapy Board
• Pediatric experience preferred.
• Criminal background check per WV Code §18A-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate
• Perform duties as described in the job description below.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Perform all evaluations and screenings
• Complete paperwork in timely manner
• Comply with WVDE Policy 2419 guidelines
• Provide therapy to students needing speech services
• Attend meetings and write IEP's for students
• Work collaboratively with special education department and providers
• Provide intervention strategies to students
• Maintains positive role model for students.
• Supports mission of school district.
• Manages student behavior in accordance with WV Board of Education Policy 4373 (Expected Behavior in Safe and Supportive Schools) and student handbook.
• Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Establishes and maintains open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers to support student learning.
• Maintains a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
• Uses effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
• Participates in staff development activities to improve Standards of Practice for self and colleagues.
• Keeps informed and complies with state, district and school regulations and policies.
• Compiles, maintains, and files all physical and computerized reports, records and other documents required.
• Adheres to Employee Code of Conduct as outlined in Braxton County School's Board of Education/West Virginia Board of Eeducation Policy
• Communicates effectively within the educational community, and with parents on a regular basis.
• Meets professional responsibilities.
• Provides an atmosphere conducive to learning consistent with school/county mission.
• Provides curricula required by the state of West Virginia.
• Demonstrates behavior which reflects established professional responsibilities (i.e., attendance, punctuality, and verbal/nonverbal communication.
