Department PSD Data Science: Systems Administration Job Summary The University of Chicago Data Science Institute seeks a candidate to support the Data Science Clinic and Technical Research Team. The role focuses on developing innovative data science and AI solutions to real-world problems in partnership with social impact organizations, government, industry, and research groups. Responsibilities include project and partnership management, strategy development, budget tracking, scheduling, event coordination, and ensuring successful execution of data science and AI projects. Responsibilities Manages the day‑to‑day execution of the Data Science Clinic program. Recruits and retains partner organizations for projects based on clinic and Technical Research Team needs in collaboration with senior leaders. Builds professional relationships with corporate, nonprofit, and community partners. Advises students on clinic options, mediates disputes, and promotes professional development. Provides information to participating organizations, scopes viable project proposals, and facilitates student learning and evaluation. Conducts site visits and conference calls with project representatives. Works closely with the Data Science Institute and university staff on clinic‑related processes, including legal agreements. Assists with grant applications and related reporting. Analyzes program budgets and makes budgetary recommendations. Engages with faculty, researchers, and staff for committee work and information. Performs other related work as needed. Education Minimum requirements: a college or university degree in a related field. Work Experience Minimum requirements: 2–5 years of work experience in a related discipline. Preferred Competencies Strong analytic and critical thinking skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Experience with project management. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Deep understanding when interacting with faculty, researchers, and staff for committee work. Ability to meet deadlines and communicate proactively about project delivery. Flexibility and ability to multitask on frequent and constantly changing demands. Effective communication with faculty, graduate students, and university administrative offices at all levels. Ability to learn new technologies and apply them consistently. Ability to work confidently around projects and data. Ability to work independently.
