Provide training and support for teachers and staff to improve students' academic, functional, behavioral progress and post-secondary goals.QualificationsEducation/CertificationMaster's degree or higher from an accredited college or university, preferred Valid Texas Teaching Certificate as a Special Education Teacher, preferredSpecial Knowledge/Skills Knowledgeable of federal, state and local laws and regulations Knowledgeable of academic and behavioral needs of students with disabilities Strong skills coaching, delivering professional development, and using instructional technology Supportive of district and department initiatives Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsExperienceThree (3) years of experience working with students receiving special education services, preferredMajor Responsibilities and Duties1. Collaborate with special education staff to implement critical classroom components including classroom organization, schedules, positive behavior supports, curricular alignment with state standards, planning/instruction and communication.2. Support teacher and paraprofessional knowledge of teaching and learning processes by training, coaching and modeling expectations.3. Assist in preparation for Annual, Review, and Dismissal meetings through the development of a PLAAFP and IEPs.4. Train campus staff to develop appropriate transition plans, including measurable transition goals, developing coordinated set of activities, and conducting age- appropriate assessments.5. Support transition planning and monitoring of State Performance Plan Indicators for Transition (SPPI-13) and Graduation (SPPI-14).6. Assist Special Services Coordinator with ongoing staff development for teachers, paraprofessionals and campus/district staff.7. Collaborate with the Curriculum and Instruction Department to develop support and strategies for teachers.8. Travel to schools and observe instruction and provide feedback to improve student achievement and behavioral progress.9. Meet district, department, and team deadlines.10. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students. Communicate in a professional manner and promote a positive work environment with district, campus, department, and community members.11.
