Monitor Tech 1 -- MED SURG UNIT / TELEMETRY -- Broaddus Hospital(Job Id 79650) Location: WV:Philippi:Broaddus Hospital Post Date: 9/4/2026 Category: Support Services Close Date: 9/4/2027 Employment Type: Employee Description Job Summary The Monitor Technician is responsible for continuous monitoring of cardiac rhythms and vital signs using telemetry equipment. This role plays a critical part in early detection of cardiac abnormalities, accurate reporting, and supporting clinical staff to ensure patient safety and quality care. Responsibilities Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry screens for assigned patients. Recognize, interpret, and document normal and abnormal heart rhythms. Immediately notify nursing staff of significant rhythm changes or life‑threatening events. Accurately document cardiac rhythm strips according to facility policy. Maintain and troubleshoot telemetry monitoring equipment. Ensure proper placement and functioning of electrodes and leads. Communicate clearly and professionally with healthcare team members. Adhere to patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations. Assist with training or orientation of new staff as needed. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology and rhythm interpretation. Ability to remain focused and calm in high‑pressure situations. Excellent attention to detail and observation skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Visual acuity sufficient to monitor screens accurately. Ability to hear alarms and communicate effectively. Medium Work: Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs with a maximum lifting of 50 lbs. Telemetry monitoring center or clinical setting. May require rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on‑call availability. Extended periods of sitting with continuous screen monitoring.
