SQL Database Administrator

SQL Database AdministratorSacramento County Department of Technology is seeking a SQL Database Administrator with expertise in performance tuning, indexing, SQL Clustering, T-SQL, SSRS, and PowerBI. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity.Responsibilities include maintaining data collection and sharing processes, developing SSRS reports and Power BI Dashboards, optimizing database processes, and building stored procedures, views, and functions to support database interactions by applications, services, reports, and dashboards. This contractor will work closely with all members of the Business Analysis and Applications Development Teams, as well as end-user customers.An expert level of knowledge and experience with Microsoft SQL Server databases, SSRS, and PowerBI is required. This position provides opportunities to contribute to the engineering of new systems and re-engineering of old ones.CRITICAL SKILLS:Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server Clusters and PowerBI Report ServerMonitor and optimize SQL performanceDevelop complex data extracts, applications, reports, dashboards, and ad-hoc queries using T-SQLResearch, troubleshoot, and resolve data issuesAssist with system analysis and application design within the project teamCollaborate with Business Analysts and customers to refine requirements and ensure data qualityContribute to the definition, development, and maintenance of standards and processesExpertise in T-SQL and development of stored proceduresReport writing experience with SSRS and PowerBIDrive continuous improvement and automation in BI solutions and processesWork effectively with System Administrators, Project Managers, Developers, Customers, and ManagementParticipate in a team development environment using JIRAExcellent written and verbal communication skillsDESIRABLE SKILLS:Degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related disciplineKnowledge of data integration (e.g., extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes)Ability to develop and troubleshoot SSRS reports and PowerBI dashboards with strong analytical skillsExperience with data access performance tuning, and database performance optimizationApplication Development Lifecycle knowledge and experienceFamiliarity with data transport protocols (e.g., SFTP, XML, JDXDML)Experience with Case Management data and/or Justice System dataDocumentation of system support informationBasic understanding of networking principlesAbility to analyze system resource usage and constraintsStrong communication skills; ability to interact at all levels, including managementAbility to work independently and follow through on assignmentsOTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:A background check is requiredTelecommuting is not offered during the first yearWork location: 8735 Folsom Boulevard, Sacramento, CA
