Director of Communications

Pay Range:$75.26 - $105.59 The Director of Communications provides leadership and strategic direction for the organization's communications activities. This position develops and implements communication strategies that support organizational priorities, strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, enhance organizational reputation, and promote awareness and understanding of programs, services, initiatives, and organizational goals.The Director works collaboratively with leaders, departments, and external partners to ensure clear, effective, and consistent communication across a variety of audiences and communication channels.SEARHC is a non-profit health consortium which serves the health interests of the residents of Southeast Alaska. We offer generous benefits, including retirement, paid time off, paid parental leave, health insurance, dental, and vision benefits, life insurance and long and short-term disability, and more.Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job· Develop and implement communication strategies that support organizational goals, priorities, and initiatives.· Provide communications counsel and support to organizational leaders and stakeholders.· Lead planning, development, and distribution of communications across a variety of internal and external channels.· Oversee organizational messaging to ensure consistency, clarity, and alignment with organizational priorities and values.· Build and maintain positive relationships with community partners, media representatives, stakeholders, and external organizations.· Support communication efforts related to organizational initiatives, programs, projects, services, and events.· Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop communication plans and materials for diverse audiences.· Identify opportunities to increase awareness, understanding, engagement, and trust among key audiences.· Oversee development of written, digital, visual, and multimedia communication materials.· Support public relations, stakeholder engagement, and community outreach activities.· Monitor communication effectiveness and recommend strategies for continuous improvement.· Support organizational reputation management and issue communications as needed.· Establish and maintain communication standards, processes, and best practices.· Monitor emerging communication trends and recommend innovative approaches to improve engagement and effectiveness.· Analyze communication performance and prepare reports, recommendations, and updates for leadership.· Perform other duties as assigned.Additional Details:Minimum Qualifications· Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Public Health, Business, English, or a related field.· Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in communications, public relations, healthcare communications, community engagement, public affairs, marketing communications, or a related field.· Experience developing and implementing communication strategies, plans, or initiatives.· Experience creating and delivering communications for diverse audiences.· Experience managing projects and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.· Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.Preferred Qualifications· Master's degree in Public Health, Communications, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Marketing, or a related field.· Experience in healthcare, public health, tribal health, nonprofit, government, or community-based organizations.· Experience supporting organizational leaders, programs, and strategic initiatives through communications.· Experience with stakeholder engagement, public relations, media relations, or community outreach.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities· Strategic communication planning and execution.· Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.· Relationship building and stakeholder engagement.· Project management and organizational skills.· Public relations and reputation management principles.· Ability to synthesize complex information and communicate it clearly to diverse audiences.· Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.· Analytical and problem-solving skills.· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.Position Information:Work Shift:ExemptIf you like wild growth and working with happy, enthusiastic over-achievers, you'll enjoy your career with us!
