Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

As an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA), you will play a key role in providing
advanced chair-side assistance while delivering high-quality dental care. This position
offers the opportunity to utilize your expanded clinical skills and contribute meaningfully to
patient care alongside a supportive dental team.

Responsibilities

• Assist dentists chairside during a wide range of restorative and general dental
procedures
• Perform expanded functions within the scope of state-specific requirements
• Assist with restorative procedures, including placement and contouring of amalgam
and composite fillings
• Support temporary crown and bridge fabrication and placement
• Take accurate dental impressions and assist with preparing study models
• Provide orthodontic assistance as needed
• Take and process dental X-rays in accordance with state requirements
• Prepare, clean, and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms following OSHA and
CDC infection control standards
• Provide clear patient education regarding treatment, post-operative instructions,
and oral hygiene
• Maintain detailed and compliant patient records, including accurate charting of
procedures and treatment notes
• Maintain dental equipment and treatment areas
• Organize and restock dental supplies as needed
• Collaborate with dentists and the dental team to ensure an exceptional patient
experience

Qualifications

• Expanded Functions Dental Assistant certification and compliance with all state specific requirements (if applicable)
• Certification in dental radiography with the ability to take and process X-rays
• Knowledge of dental instruments, materials, restorative procedures, and infection
control protocols
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
