About the Position

Description: The position is for a registered nurse specializing in the intensive care unit. The ICU's patient population includes trauma patients, cardiovascular surgery patients, neurosurgery patients, and other complex surgical cases. The nurse will be responsible for the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. Skills in arterial line management and blood product administration are required. Common diagnoses in the ICU include acute ventilator needs, COVID-19 with high oxygen demand, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe sepsis, unstable gastrointestinal bleeding, trauma cases, open-heart recovery, and multi-system organ failure. The shift schedule is comprised of three 12-hour night shifts. Staffing ratios are projected to be 1:2-3 depending on patient acuity and skill level during required float. Weekend shifts are required every other week. The role may require floating to meet facility needs. The unit accommodates adult and geriatric patients. There is a mixed medical and surgical side within the intensive care unit. Procedures performed may include bedside conscious sedation, in-room endoscopies, chest tube insertions, and bronchoscopies. Central line placements will also occur in patient rooms. Special equipment utilized includes Swan catheters, internal temperature management devices, ICU specialty beds, balloon pumps, and CRRT machines. This role requires someone who can work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care.
