Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates knowledge of techniques and treatment modalities for patients of varying ages, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric.
• Documents all pertinent data on the patient's medical record after completing service.
• Administers respiratory therapy treatments, understanding the purpose and possible side effects of each.
• Demonstrates knowledge of oxygen delivery methods and equipment, remaining alert to possible side effects.
• Sets up and monitors mechanical ventilators, including airway management and tracheal suctioning.
• Performs arterial punctures to obtain blood samples for gas analysis, understanding complications and contraindications.
• Assesses patient needs and tolerance for treatment, reassessing responses to therapy.
• Formulates and evaluates teaching plans based on patient learning needs, including family involvement as appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of health care field and medical terminology
• Expertise in patient advocacy and navigating complex systems
• Ability to communicate by reading, writing and typing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively to carry out job requirements
• Ability to ensure infection control
• Effective oral and written communication skills, including documentation in the patient care record (EMR), and ability to use and adapt to computer systems and applications
• Airway management skills, including insertion and maintenance of a patent airway
• Ability to provide optimal respiratory support including administration of oxygen and Heliox, administration of inhaled medications, lung expansion, and bronchial hygiene therapy
• Ability to appropriately initiate, operate, manage, and liberate non-invasive and invasive modes of mechanical ventilation
• Ability to perform ABG Puncture, analysis, arterial cannulation using sterile procedure, and hemodynamic monitoring
• Ventilator patient transportation
• Knowledge and skill to care for the pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient in a health care delivery system

Education:

• Associate's in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science

Work Experience:

• 1+ years experience as a respiratory therapist

Licenses and Certifications:

• State Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) OR NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) OR State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) OR NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Pay Range: $26.08 $48.50
