Lifeguard

Carmel Swim Academy is looking for responsible, energetic individuals who are seeking flexible hours in a fun, fast-paced environment. Lifeguarding requires professional and dependable individuals. Lifeguards must maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool and the surrounding areas, and create a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with Carmel Swim Academy policies and procedures. Essential Functions Performs as a leader and role model for other staff members and patrons. Shows up for work in the correct uniform, on time, and ready to work. Knows and practices all emergency procedures and responds accordingly, which includes attending all staff meetings and in-service training. Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants, and other staff. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the aquatic area. Qualifications Must be at least 15 years old. Must hold STAR Guard Lifeguard Certification, or equivalent. Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness. Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with American Red Cross standards. Scheduling This position’s shifts are scheduled on a monthly basis. Lifeguards are responsible for turning in their availability for the following month on time to be put on the schedule. Shifts are three to four hours long. Shifts are scheduled between 4:45 AM and 9 PM Sunday through Saturday.
