Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of a Public Safety Dispatch Supervisor I, duties include operating radio console, transmit and receive radio traffic; document information in CAD or on cards; dispatch appropriate personnel and resources; answer both emergency and non-emergency calls from officers, public, media and allied agencies; use of computer equipment, access information, enter and update various data bases; monitor and utilize communications related equipment; maintain related logs and files; use maps and manuals to access information; sitting/standing for prolonged periods of time.

Working Conditions

Chico Communications Center PSD's are on the 03/12 Alternate Workweek, with seniority sign-ups for shift selection and regular days off.

Special Requirements

• The position(s) require(s) a Drug Screening be passed prior to being hired.

• This position requires the ability to type at a minimum speed designated on the Classification Specifications (link available in the minimum requirements section).  You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed prior to being hired.  Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests:

• Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified before appointment. To satisfy the minimum qualification requirement with education, you must include your unofficial transcript(s)/diploma for initial review. Original diplomas or official, sealed transcripts will be required before the start date.
