Key Responsibilities
- Perform evaluations, develop individualized plans of care, and conduct reassessments for acute care patients across a variety of clinical settings including ER, ICU, Medical-Surgical, and Orthopedics
- Deliver therapeutic interventions including gait training, AROM/AAROM/PROM exercises, strength testing, and post-surgical rehabilitation (e.g., total hip/knee replacement, post-stroke rehabilitation)
- Assist with patient mobility, lifting, and transfers using assistive devices such as gait belts, standard walkers, crutches, and hospital beds
- Develop and instruct patients and families on home exercise programs and safe body mechanics
- Monitor and document vital signs, pain assessments, and skin integrity throughout the course of treatment
- Establish short-term goals and coordinate discharge planning in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team
Required Qualifications
- Active California Physical Therapist (PT) license — must be in hand prior to start
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Minimum of 1 year of physical therapy experience
- Experience in acute care settings including geriatrics, orthopedics, ICU, and medical-surgical units
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health records system
- Ability to float between facilities within the state as assigned
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience managing patients with complex diagnoses such as COPD, CHF, CABG, MI, hip fractures, and knee injuries/tendinopathy
- Familiarity with supplemental oxygen protocols and management of medically complex patients
- Experience in geriatric rehabilitation and post-stroke recovery programs
