RN - SICU

SICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled SICU Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in critical care nursing and be prepared to work in a fast-paced, Level 1 Trauma environment.

Position Details

• Unit Type: Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)
• Shift: Nights (7p-7a)
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 44 hours per week
• Experience Requirement: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience
• Floating Requirement: Must be open to floating to other ICU units
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend (EOW)

Required Certifications

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care in a busy surgical intensive care unit.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, recognizing changes and escalating care as necessary.
• Administer medications and titrate intravenous drips as ordered.
• Ensure effective communication with interdisciplinary teams and patients' families.
• Participate in rounds and collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes.
• Assist with various procedures and maintain the safety and comfort of patients.

Preferred Experience and Skills

• Experience with CRRT, hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator support, and managing chest tubes.
• Experience with a variety of surgical patients including liver/kidney transplants, vascular surgeries, ENT oncology, and complex abdominal surgeries.
• Ability to quickly assess patient status and initiate timely interventions.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Additional Information

• Patient-Nurse Ratios: 1:2 or 1:3 depending on acuity and assignments.
• Team structure includes a charge nurse on each shift, who may take a patient load depending on staffing needs.
• Intermittent patient care technicians may be available based on census.
• Respiratory therapy staff available 24/7 in the unit.
• EPIC system familiarity required.
