School Nurse Opportunity In Freeport, ME

Step into a vital role supporting students as an experienced Registered Nurse specializing in school-based care. This contract opportunity near Freeport, ME, is ideal for an RN who enjoys providing dedicated 1:1 support to children and is ready for a flexible work schedule. You’ll be filling in for a current RN out on maternity leave, ensuring continuity of compassionate care.

This role begins as soon as possible and continues through the current school year (CSY) and extended school year (ESY) periods, with a transition to full-time work at the beginning of the next school year (NSY). You’ll be offering your expertise at a single school site, focusing on the well-being and daily support of one student.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Active RN license required
• Previous experience in a school or pediatric setting strongly preferred
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with students, families, and school staff
• Comfortable with daily documentation and compliance with school district protocols
• CPR and First Aid certifications up to date

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct 1:1 nursing care to an assigned student, including medication administration and monitoring of health conditions
• Collaborate with educators, therapists, and parents to develop and implement care plans
• Respond promptly and appropriately to medical emergencies
• Maintain accurate health records and documentation in accordance with school policies
• Support a safe, inclusive environment for student learning and wellness
