Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Registered Nurse

As a Registered Nurse in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), you will play a critical role in the care and treatment of patients with complex cardiac and vascular conditions. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialized nursing care, monitor patients' vital signs, administer medications, and collaborate with physicians to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive assessments of patients with cardiovascular conditions, including monitoring vital signs, assessing cardiac rhythms, and evaluating responses to treatment.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, adhering to established protocols and ensuring accurate documentation.
• Monitor and interpret hemodynamic data, such as EKGs, cardiac output, and arterial pressure, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
• Provide emotional support, education, and counseling to patients and their families, helping them understand their conditions and treatment plans.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team, including cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, respiratory therapists, and other specialists, to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Operate and troubleshoot complex medical equipment, including ventilators, intra-aortic balloon pumps, and continuous renal replacement therapy machines.
• Maintain a sterile and safe environment for patients undergoing invasive procedures or surgery.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute to patient care discussions and planning.
• Assist in emergency situations, such as code blue responses, by providing advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and other critical care interventions.
• Document all patient interactions, assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in cardiovascular nursing and attend continuing education programs as required.

Qualifications:

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license — must be licensed to work in MT (Montana is a compact state).
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred, but not required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required. If willing to obtain certs prior to start, can still submit with this noted.
• Minimum of 2 years recent experience in field.
• Strong knowledge of cardiovascular conditions, treatments, and interventions.
• Excellent critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
