Member Services Representative

This position is intended to provide assistance to branches first when short staffed in order to not compromise member service. Knowledge of all phases of member services and cash handling. Be aware of the requirements of BSA (Bank Secrecy Act) and Regulation CC as it pertains to their daily job duties.

Core competencies include establishing membership eligibility; opening all types of accounts; demonstrating a high level of product and service expertise; seeing the big picture of member retention and organization growth; offering alternatives to members and creating win-win situations; identifying solutions and making sound decisions in resolving account problems and issues; serving members timely and going the extra mile to make experience fulfilling and satisfying for the member; counseling and conducting financial reviews and advising members regarding loan requests, personal budgets, and family finance; comprehending and complying with all federal and state lending regulations and all partner policies and procedures; ensuring that all loan documents are signed and reviewed by processing prior to the member's departure; assisting members with transaction, account problems, questions, accurately and efficiently; performing transactions as requested by members; closing accounts as requested; ensuring consistent implementation of hold policy; performing all duties requested by the branch you are assisting, including making outbound calls, financial reviews, and product recommendations; ensuring each step of the secret shops is performed on every transaction; and being available for Saturday hours.

Knowledge, skill, and ability requirements include being knowledgeable with all types of loan documents, credit reports, and lending regulations; prioritizing and organizing multiple tasks effectively; working quickly and accurately to serve members in a timely fashion; tactfully questioning and actively listening to members or employees to determine specific needs/concerns and bring resolution to them; working with minimum supervision, meeting deadlines, working effectively as a team member, resolving problems, soothing irate members, making decisions, and dealing effectively with the public; communicating clearly, concisely, and professionally in verbal and written form; practicing professional written and oral communication; displaying professionalism in appearance and demeanor; and working with different levels of management.

Education or formal training required is a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in loan processing and cash handling is preferred.

The working environment includes regular requirements to talk or hear, occasionally standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to travel, by auto, to various branch locations as determined by staff needs.
