The Maintenance Technician performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on a wide range of industrial machinery and equipment. This role focuses on ensuring reliable operation of motors, conveyor systems, folder gluers, presses, banders, bundlers, and printing equipment through inspections, calibrations, safety checks, and component replacements. The technician also installs, relocates, and modifies machinery as needed, working with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, including scheduled inspections, calibrations, safety checks, lubrication, and component replacements to minimize equipment downtime.

• Troubleshoot and repair industrial machinery such as motors, conveyor systems, folder gluers, presses, banders, bundlers, and printing equipment.

• Install, relocate, and modify machinery and equipment according to production needs and technical specifications.

• Diagnose and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems that use fluid or air pressure to operate equipment.

• Inspect, diagnose, and replace worn mechanical components such as bearings, drive systems, and other moving parts.

• Maintain and troubleshoot conveyor systems, including belts, rollers, and motors, to ensure smooth material flow.

• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot motor controls and variable frequency drives (VFDs) for proper motor operation and speed control.

• Diagnose and repair issues with sensors and switches, including proximity sensors, limit switches, and photo eyes, to ensure accurate machine operation and safety.

• Interpret and work from electrical schematics and technical drawings to perform maintenance, repairs, and installations.

• Conduct electrical troubleshooting on three-phase systems and other electrical components to identify and correct faults.

• Perform general mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair tasks as required to support production.

• Collaborate with team members and production staff to prioritize maintenance activities and respond to equipment issues.

• Document maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications to support reliability and continuous improvement.

• Follow all safety procedures and best practices while working on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

Essential Skills

• At least 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance.

• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with experience working on industrial machinery and equipment.

• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience with three-phase power and motor controls.

• Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance practices in an industrial environment.

• Ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics and technical drawings.

• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining motors and conveyor systems.

• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and ability to diagnose and repair hydraulic components.

• Knowledge of pneumatic systems and ability to diagnose and repair pneumatic components.

• Experience with electrical maintenance and repair in an industrial setting.

• Experience working with PLCs in support of maintenance and troubleshooting activities.

• Basic welding skills to support equipment repair and modification.

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities for mechanical and electrical issues.

• Ability to work independently on a small team and manage tasks with minimal supervision.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in corrugating or working with corrugated production equipment is a significant plus.

• Background as a maintenance technician in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

• Familiarity with folder gluers, presses, banders, bundlers, and printing equipment.

• Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and motor control systems.

• Comfort working with sensors and switches, including proximity sensors, limit switches, and photo eyes.

• Ability to adapt to changing production needs and support equipment relocation and modification.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to equipment safety and reliability.

Work Environment

This role is based on a 2nd shift schedule, typically from 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays as needed, and includes a shift differential for second shift work. The work takes place in a clean industrial environment with a small, close-knit team where employees often work independently and take ownership of their tasks. The setting involves working around industrial machinery and equipment, with a focus on safety, organization, and efficient operations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
