Registered Nurse - Medical-Surgical Telemetry (Nights)

Schedule

This is a 13-week contract position that involves working 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with an every other weekend rotation and holidays as needed.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will provide care for acutely ill medical-surgical and orthopedic patients in a telemetry unit. Responsibilities include monitoring patient vitals, administering medications, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage patients with acute and chronic respiratory illnesses, orthopedic conditions, and various post-operative cases.
• Administer IV medication drips such as Heparin and TNA as per hospital protocols.
• Provide care for patients with diabetes, heart failure, renal failure, and drug overdoses.
• Implement isolation precautions and use appropriate PPE as needed.
• Utilize telemetry equipment for monitoring and interpreting dysrhythmias.
• Actively participate in rapid response situations and code teams.
• Support patients undergoing radioactive therapy and those with uncontrolled seizures.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a similar setting.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• BLS certification is required; ACLS and NIHSS certifications are preferred.
• Experience in telemetry and managing patients on telemetry monitoring.
• Must be able to float between different facilities as required.
• Must pass a compliance EKG exam.
