Company Description DeSoto Independent School District (DeSoto ISD) is a suburban public school district located about 15 miles south of Dallas in north Texas. Role Description The Athletic Trainer is a full‑time, on‑site role located in DeSoto, TX, supporting student‑athletes across district athletic programs. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include evaluating injuries, providing immediate care, and coordinating appropriate medical referrals when necessary. The role also involves designing and implementing injury prevention programs, overseeing rehabilitation plans, and collaborating with coaches to ensure safe practice and competition environments. The Athletic Trainer maintains accurate documentation of injuries and treatments, manages athletic training room operations and equipment, and communicates regularly with students, families, coaches, and healthcare providers. This position requires consistent presence at practices, games, and athletic events, including some evenings and weekends. Qualifications Candidates should possess skills in Injury Prevention and Prevention strategies to support safe athletic participation. Candidates should possess skills in Athletic Training, including assessment, emergency care, and treatment of sports‑related injuries. Candidates should possess skills in Strength & Conditioning to help design safe training programs that enhance performance and reduce injury risk. Candidates should possess skills in Rehabilitation, including developing and monitoring individualized recovery plans for injured student‑athletes. Current certification as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) and eligibility for state licensure in Texas. Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or a related field; master’s degree preferred. Knowledge of relevant safety standards, concussion management protocols, and emergency response procedures. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a school‑based, multi‑sport environment. Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move equipment, and respond quickly during practices and competitions.
