Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students as a full-time Paraprofessional supporting special education classrooms for the 2022-2023 school year! This contract opportunity offers valuable experience in the dynamic setting of a K-12 school near Alexandria, VA, focusing on students with mild to moderate needs in both 1:1 and small group environments.
Desired Experience and Skills:
- Previous experience working as a paraprofessional, teaching assistant, or in special education settings is highly valued
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field preferred
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, special educators, and classroom staff
- Flexibility and creativity in supporting students’ diverse learning needs
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient approach
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct assistance to students in both academic and behavioral needs under the guidance of special education teachers
- Support classroom management and foster a positive, inclusive learning atmosphere
- Assist with lesson preparation, instructional tasks, and activities tailored to IEP goals
- Adapt assignments as directed to meet the individual needs of students
- Help monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers
- Deliver 1:1 and small group support, encouraging independence and skill development
