Job Summary

Provide onsite quality support across all areas of the plant through the assessment, implementation, and maintenance of quality systems that meet or exceed customer and IATF/TS standards. This role is heavily focused on plant-floor presence, hands-on support of manufacturing processes, formal problem-solving, and driving continuous improvement in product quality, cost, and customer satisfaction. The position works closely with production, engineering, suppliers, and customers to strengthen process controls, resolve issues quickly, and support a high-performing manufacturing operation. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, action-oriented, technically strong, and comfortable working in a fast-paced plant environment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide daily onsite quality support across manufacturing areas, working directly with plant teams to assess issues, support process control, and improve product quality
  • Work closely with production, engineering, maintenance, and other plant functions to support issue resolution and sustain effective manufacturing process controls
  • Conduct internal quality system audits and monitor the progress and verification of corrective actions
  • Serve as the primary customer contact for APQP, warranty issues, and miscellaneous quality-related concerns
  • Analyze returned product for warranty resolution, coordinate laboratory analysis as needed, and document and distribute results
  • Serve as the primary supplier contact for APQP, PPAP, and other quality planning processes
  • Interface directly with suppliers to coordinate containment, corrective action, and resolution of failures related to parts and services
  • Partner with the corporate Purchasing Team to support resolution plans for supplier quality concerns
  • Support product and process changes for house accounts, including launch RFQs, design change requests, print specification review, material recommendations, and prototype launches as required
  • Provide training in quality systems and related areas such as APQP, BOS, problem solving, and SPC
  • Instruct employees on Statistical Process Control fundamentals, including the use of electronic and paper-generated SPC charts
  • Obtain, analyze, and report statistical data from internal and external sources as required by plant leadership, customers, and other stakeholders
  • Assist in the development of process flow diagrams, control plans, inspection methods, and related process documentation
  • Create, maintain, and improve standard procedures and quality system documentation
  • Create operating instructions and supporting quality documentation, including R&R studies, Cpk/CPH analysis, and containment documentation
  • Follow Quality Management System requirements outlined in applicable procedures and work instructions, and identify opportunities for continual improvement
Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree preferred

Experience: Experience in a quality role within an automotive or high-volume manufacturing environment required

Requirements: Strong onsite, hands-on approach to supporting plant operations and manufacturing teams

Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as quality standards, blueprints, print specifications, and material specifications

Working knowledge of core quality tools and systems, including APQP, PPAP, SPC, problem solving, and process documentation

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong analytical and organizational skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Access

Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Ability to build effective working relationships across plant functions, with customers, and with suppliers

Physical Demands

Ability to sit frequently for extended periods of time

Ability to move throughout the plant, including both office and manufacturing areas, on a regular basis

Ability to work in and around active manufacturing operations as needed

Manual dexterity for computer work and documentation

Ability to communicate effectively with employees, leaders, customers, and suppliers

Ability to travel occasionally, including short-notice customer visits as needed

Ability to work a flexible schedule based on plant, customer, or supplier needs

Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

Work Environment

This role is primarily onsite and requires regular presence in manufacturing areas to support plant operations, process control, issue resolution, and cross-functional coordination

Office environment includes artificial lighting, computers, telephones, desks, and temperature-controlled conditions

Manufacturing environment includes machine and equipment noise, varying temperatures, and required personal protective equipment

Must be able to work at supplier facilities as needed

Must be able to adjust work pace and priorities quickly in response to customer demands, production issues, and plant needs
