Location: 2400 Unser Blvd, Rio Rancho, NM 87124 Compensation: $37.80–$51.00 per hour Type: Full‑time, day shift. Responsibilities Utilize the nursing process to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients during a shift. Prioritize delivery of direct nursing care using time and resources efficiently, integrating a standards‑based framework. Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document individual patient needs, actions taken, and patient responses. Coordinate patient care through collaboration with the patient/family and the healthcare team. Perform assessments as per unit standards and document on appropriate database/assessment flow sheet. Initiate, utilize, and document appropriate protocols and standards of care. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physician protocols and document according to policy. Identify and meet patient and family learning and discharge needs on admission and throughout the episode of care. Evaluate patient progression toward outcomes per unit policies and document through EOSS etc. Perform competently in emergency situations. Delegate or assign aspects of patient care to healthcare team members commensurate with their validated competency. Assume responsibility for clinical supervision of LPNs and non‑licensed assistive personnel. Provide leadership through communication about and validation of patient care. Assist with various procedures, treatments, surgical techniques or assign to other healthcare team members as appropriate. Complete patient population/age‑specific/procedure and protocol education and competency testing per unit policy. Demonstrate competency in required psychomotor skills. Assist in orientation of new staff or students and serve as a resource person and professional role model. Assume professional responsibility for current nursing structure, nursing guidelines of care, and policies. Incorporate PHS mission (VVPS) in care‑giving activities. Support DON philosophies of professional governance and models of care delivery. Assume other leadership roles (e.g., relief charge nurse) as required by the department. Perform other functions as required. Participate in unit or department governance and complete required in‑services and competency training on time. Qualifications Associate Degree in Nursing and a valid State of New Mexico or Compact state nursing license. BLS certification required at time of hire. ACLS or surgical services pre‑op and recovery room certification. PALS certification for surgical services pre‑op and recovery room. 1+ years of OR experience (highly preferred).
