Job Title: Industrial Millwright

Job Description

The industrial millwright is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and improvement of manufacturing and material handling equipment. This role ensures that conveyors, motors, gearboxes, bearings, chains, and other mechanical systems operate safely and efficiently to support continuous production operations. The position is ideal for a highly skilled mechanical technician with hands-on experience in industrial maintenance, precision alignment, welding, fabrication, and equipment repair.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing and material handling equipment, including conveyors, motors, gearboxes, bearings, chains, and related mechanical systems.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot conveyor breakdowns and other mechanical failures to minimize downtime and maintain safe, efficient operations.

  • Replace worn components such as bearings, belts, chains, sprockets, and rollers to restore equipment performance and reliability.

  • Perform regular preventive maintenance inspections on production and material handling equipment and document findings and actions taken.

  • Respond promptly to emergency service calls and unexpected equipment failures, providing effective and timely repairs.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to plan and execute installations, repairs, and modifications accurately.

  • Perform fabrication and welding tasks as needed to repair or modify equipment and support improvements to production systems.

  • Use precision measuring and alignment tools to ensure proper installation and alignment of rotating and mechanical components.

  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely and in accordance with established procedures.

  • Work independently or as part of a team to complete maintenance tasks, coordinate with production, and support overall plant operations.

  • Work from heights when required to access equipment and perform maintenance or installation tasks safely.

  • Travel extensively to various facilities as needed to support projects, installations, and ongoing maintenance work.

Essential Skills

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and power transmission equipment.

  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining conveyors and material handling systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.

  • Experience using precision measuring and alignment tools.

  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to work from heights when required.

  • Comfort with extensive travel to various work sites.

  • Hands-on experience with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

  • Experience performing preventive maintenance on industrial equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in welding and fabrication for equipment repair and modification.

  • Industrial maintenance within manufacturing or plant environments.

  • Ability to conduct detailed preventive maintenance inspections and maintain accurate records.

  • Familiarity with material handling equipment and production facility operations.

  • Strong attention to safety and adherence to established maintenance procedures.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily within plant and manufacturing facilities, focusing on industrial equipment and material handling systems. When traveling, the typical schedule is 10 days on and 4 days off on first shift, generally from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. When working locally within approximately a two-hour radius, the schedule follows a normal first-shift pattern from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Work may involve accessing equipment at heights and moving throughout active production areas, with a strong emphasis on safety and proper use of tools and equipment. The setting is industrial and hands-on, with regular interaction with conveyors, mechanical systems, and maintenance tools.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bardstown, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
