Chief Operating Officer
LHH is assisting a mission-driven nonprofit organization who seeks an experienced operational executive to serve as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and a key member of the executive leadership team. This individual will provide strategic and hands-on leadership across supply chain, logistics, warehousing, distribution, transportation, facilities, compliance, safety, and program operations, ensuring efficient service delivery while supporting organizational growth and community impact.
This person will:
- Lead day-to-day organizational operations and drive strategic initiatives in partnership with the CEO.
- Oversee supply chain, procurement, warehousing, inventory management, transportation, and distribution functions.
- Establish operational KPIs, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, workplace safety, transportation, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee facilities, fleet, equipment, asset management, and capital improvement projects.
- Develop and mentor high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.
- Partner on budget development, financial stewardship, and long-term organizational planning.
- Represent the organization with community partners, vendors, government agencies, and key stakeholders.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain, Public Administration, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive operations leadership experience.
- 5+ years in a senior leadership role overseeing multiple business functions.
- Strong background in supply chain, logistics, distribution, warehousing, transportation, or large-scale operational environments.
- Experience managing budgets, performance metrics, and process improvement initiatives.
- Proven leadership, communication, problem-solving, and change management skills.
Preferred:
- Nonprofit, food distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or community service organization experience.
- Knowledge of food safety, warehouse operations, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience leading volunteer-supported operations.
- MBA, MPA, or related advanced degree.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
Compensation: $140,000-$155,000
