Overview

The Mechanical Professional Engineer I (PE I) applies fundamental engineering principles to design, analyze, and support mechanical systems for energy and infrastructure projects across hospital and college campuses. This includes developing code-compliant, constructible designs for HVAC, hydronic, thermal plant, and energy systems within defined project scopes. The PE I collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate designs with existing facilities, supports permitting and procurement efforts, and responds to field conditions. Responsibilities include preparing calculations, drawings, and specifications, maintaining design documentation, and contributing to systems that meet performance, reliability, and energy efficiency objectives consistent with ENFRA's design-build delivery model.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for signing and sealing engineering documents, as applicable.
• Performs analysis, design, and evaluation of mechanical systems (HVAC, hydronic, energy systems, etc.).
• Prepares calculations, drawings, and specifications under established standards.
• Assists with the creations of detailed system configurations and control schemes with emphasis on long-term energy savings.
• Conducts field investigations and supports site visits. Coordinates and plans 3D laser scanning effort.
• Assists in project execution, including coordination with internal teams.
• Applies engineering techniques within defined assignments.
• Performs work under general supervision.
• Handles moderately complex issues; escalates more complex problems to senior staff.
• Begins developing client interaction skills in supported setting.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in architectural engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of design experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) License
• Working knowledge of mechanical engineering systems and design principles
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and mathematical skills
• Proficiency in engineering software and tools
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple tasks

Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications

• Experience in energy infrastructure, ESCO, or EaaS projects.

Travel Requirements

• 10-25% of time will be spent traveling to job siteS.

Physical/Work Environment Requirements

• Prolonged periods of office work sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Ascending and descending stairs, ladders, ramps, and possibly scaffolding.
• Occasionally completed field survey in loud, peak/low temperatures, and/or elevated locations.
• Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
• Field survey, including traveling to job sites, to document existing conditions and observe construction progress.
• Light work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 20 pounds.

Pay Range

USD $101,610.00 - USD $152,662.00 /Yr.
