Mental Health Professional-MH Dep Salary Range: $40,707 - $44,482 / Annually JOBPURPOSE: The Qualified Mental Health Professional is a key member of the treatment teamwho provides direct care skills training, rehabilitative services andcoordination of care to individuals assigned to their caseload. Performsassessments and develops recovery plans in a person-centered, trauma-informedand developmentally appropriate manner which supports individuals in meetingtheir chosen goals. Ability to build rapport and work independently areessential. Proficient use of technology to stay organized and document servicestimely is required. MentalHealth Professionals in Crisis Programs perform a variety of different rolesbased on program assignment. ForExample: Mobile Crisis OutreachTeam : Conduct crisis assessments, de-escalationsand crisis interventions with individuals experiencing mental health crises. Providelinkage to resources and follow-up services. Mobile Crisis Outreach services areavailable and provided 24/7 (including nights, weekends and holidays). Thisrole is community-based with most of the time being spent serving individualsin emergency rooms, schools, jails, homes and other community settings. Mayprovide educational outreach services. This position works 4, 12-hour shiftsand provides on-call coverage. Assist, Stabilize andPrevent (ASAP) : Primary function is to provide crisisassessment, de-escalation, crisis intervention, and follow-up services.Provides some skills training or psychosocial rehabilitation services toindividuals. Works in conjunction with law enforcement and judicial partners toprovide crisis prevention and intervention services primarily with individualswho have had recent psychiatric hospitalizations or contacts with law enforcement.This is a team-based role who is partnered with a mental health peace officerto achieve goals of the program. Work schedule is mostly M-F, 8-5 with somevariability. May work overtime. EDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college oruniversity with a major in social, behavioral or human services or is aregistered nurse. (Social, behavioral, and human services are:psychology; social work; medicine; nursing; rehabilitation; counseling; sociology;human development; physician's assistant; gerontology; education psychology;special education; early childhood intervention; or early childhood education.) DEGREEAND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED (IF APPLICABLE): BA/BS or RN DRIVINGREQUIRED: Yes

KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Appropriatewritten and verbal communication, including proper spelling and grammar. Abilityto learn to write progress notes, assessments, brief mental status exams,memos, letters, various complex reports and other documents according to agencystandards. Computer skilled in the use of computer technology, particularly with Microsoft Officeapplications. Familiarity with anyelectronic medical record is a plus. Familiaritywith community mental health and other resources Abilityto build rapport with individuals including coworkers. Demonstrateskill in utilizing appropriate professional tools and interventions. Comfortinteracting with individuals of diverse cultural, ethnic, and economicbackgrounds and with social service, healthcare, educational and criminaljustice organizations. Acquiresand uses new skills as the job requires. Abilityto work with considerable latitude and exercise discretion and independentjudgment. This would include personal initiative and problem-solvingskills. Abilityto complete all job requirements in a timely manner. OTHERREQUIREMENTS OR CONDITIONS (specify): Maybe required to interact with other consumers, referral sources, outsideagencies, and family members to determine needs and actions to be taken. CurrentState of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must becurrently licensed in that state. Liabilityinsurance required if employee would operate personal vehicle on Center propertyor for Center business. Must be insurable by Center's liability carrierif employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Centerbusiness. Mustcomplete all training requirements in month in which they are due. Maybe required to provide on-call duties. Availabilityof a personal vehicle for business use may be required. Workmay take place within clinic-office or community settings (schools, nursinghomes, emergency rooms, clients' residences, shelters etc.) and mayinteractions with agitated or disruptive individuals. Maybe responsible for providing group services and/or crisis services as needed. Mustpass a pre-employment drug test. Mustsuccessfully pass all background screens as required by the state Abilityto input data into computer, make calculations, complete paperwork, producereports. Mustbe physically able to perform all job requirements that may include homevisits, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, and standing or sittingfor long periods of time if required. SomeQMHP positions require flexible hours including evenings, nights, weekends, andholidays as needed.
