HourlyUnited States Texas HoustonContract Manufacturing Mining Oil & Gas Project Overview Our Client is seeking to contract a Senior Electrical Engineer to support the execution of a Battery Materials manufacturing project. The project scope is divided between two facilities in Franklin, Louisiana (Canal Facility), and Pampa, Texas. The major systems at Canal include process equipment (milling systems, solids handling equipment, compressors, cooling systems, etc.), building services, site-wide systems (grounding, area classification, lighting, etc.), incoming high voltage feed, and stepdown station(s). The Canal project has completed the early development phase and has advanced to the pre-FEED Capital Phase 2, (Alternatives Analysis). The major systems at Pampa include process equipment (electrical furnaces, solids handling equipment, drying systems, compressors, etc.), building services, site-wide systems (grounding, area classification, lighting, etc.), incoming high voltage feed, and stepdown station. The Pampa project has completed the pre-FEED Capital Phase 2, (Alternatives Analysis) and has advanced to the FEED Capital Phase 3, (Front End Engineering and Design). Both parts of the project will be executed with a 3rd party Engineering Firm. Aug 2027Detailed Eng. & Construction: Sept 2027 – Oct 2028Commissioning and Start-Up: Nov 2028 – Dec 2028RequirementsBS in Electrical EngineeringProfessional Engineering License in Electrical Engineering strongly preferred (Louisiana or Texas PE not specifically required)10 Years engineering experience delivering capital projects with contract engineering firms and oversight of engineering teamsExperience with retrofit projects in existing manufacturing plantsExperience in engineering and design of medium (4160 V) and low (480 V, 220 V, and 110 V) systems for chemical processing equipment (Transformers, motors, heaters, instrumentation, etc.) is requiredExperience with motor controls and VFDs is desiredProficiency with ETAP software and modelsExperience with equipment in a hard asset manufacturing environment, chemical, oil & gas, cement, paper, etc. is preferredExperience with construction and equipment installation in chemical/oil & gas/cement/paper manufacturing plants is desiredExperience with electrical equipment inspection, and installation is desiredExperience collaborating with Process, Instrumentation & Controls, Civil/Structural/Architectural and Mechanical disciplinesHigh level of proficiency with project controls (cost and schedule) programsAbility to travel to the Project sites, and Third-Party Engineering Firm officesRoles and Responsibilities The primary roles and responsibilities of the Electrical Project Engineer will be as follows:Provide technical leadership and oversight of the Third-Party Engineering Firm and its subcontractors throughout all phases of engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startupCoordinate with the project team, operations, and the Third-Party Engineering Firm to ensure effective communication and alignment of technical, scope, cost, schedule, and project execution activitiesPerform comprehensive technical reviews of electrical engineering deliverables, including but not limited to one-line diagrams, power distribution drawings, instrumentation wiring, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, hazardous area classification, specifications, calculations, studies, engineering reports, etc. to ensure compliance with project requirements, applicable codes and standards, and engineering practicesReview and approve equipment vendor documentation, calculations, electrical studies, fabrication drawings, and technical submittals to verify compliance with project specifications, design intent, operability, maintainability, and long-term system reliabilityEvaluate existing electrical infrastructure and systems, including but not limited to power distribution, transformers, MCCs, grounding, lighting, lightning protection, and utility capacity, to ensure seamless integration of new equipment while maintaining safe, reliable, and uninterrupted plant operationsVerify compliance with applicable industry codes, standards, and regulations, and ensure engineering deliverables satisfy Louisiana and Texas Professional Engineering licensing and stamping requirementsProvide technical direction and challenge the engineering contractor to optimize designs by identifying opportunities to eliminate over-design, correct under-design, improve constructability, reduce capital cost, and enhance long-term operability, maintainability, electrical reliability, and system performanceReview engineering packages for completeness, technical accuracy, interdisciplinary coordination, and readiness prior to procurement, bid issuance, and construction.Participate in constructability, operability, maintainability, and value engineering reviews, providing recommendations to improve safety, project execution, lifecycle performance, and overall project valueEvaluate technical risks, engineering changes, and design deviations, assessing impacts to scope, cost, schedule, quality, safety, and plant operations while recommending appropriate mitigation strategiesProvide technical support during procurement, construction, equipment installation, commissioning, energization, startup, and project closeout by resolving field engineering issues and coordinating technical interfaces between electrical, instrumentation, process, mechanical, piping, civil/structural, and operations teamsActively participate in Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, including Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), and resolution of associated action itemsWith over 90 years' combined experience, NES Fircroft (NES) is proud to be the world's leading engineering staffing provider spanning the Oil & Gas, Power & Renewables, Chemicals, Construction & Infrastructure, Life Sciences, Mining and Manufacturing sectors worldwide.
