Tax Controversy Associate

Job Overview A law firm seeks a Tax Controversy Associate in Charlotte, NC. The ideal candidate will have 4 to 7 years of civil tax controversy experience, preferably within a law firm setting. Duties Represent taxpayers before the IRS and state tax agencies. Conduct efficient legal research and analysis. Prepare and review draft legal documents related to tax controversy matters. Manage multiple projects and deadlines under attorney supervision. Interact daily with clients and manage client relationships. Collaborate effectively with large transactional practices. Requirements 4 to 7 years of civil tax controversy experience. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Excellent time management skills. Strong technical abilities. Bar admission or eligibility to obtain admission promptly in the jurisdiction of resident office location. Education Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school. Certifications LL.M. in Taxation is a plus. Skills Experience before the U.S. Tax Court, U.S. District Courts, and/or the Court of Federal Claims is a plus. Ability to break down complex topics and identify practical solutions. Deliver timely and succinct work product. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
