This position focuses on ensuring accurate scheduling, registration, and financial support for patients accessing clinic and hospital services.
Job Summary As a Patient Access Specialist I, you will be responsible for registering patients accurately using specialized software, verifying insurance and benefits, and managing referrals and pre-authorizations. You will conduct registration interviews, handle point-of-service collections including co-payments and balances, and maintain daily cash drawer operations. Your communication skills will be essential as you operate a multi-line phone system, respond to patient inquiries, and collaborate with staff to provide a seamless patient experience. Key Responsibilities- Schedule and register patients while ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Verify insurance coverage, referrals, and pre-authorizations.
- Collect patient financial responsibilities at point of service and manage cash drawer.
- Operate multi-line telephone systems to assist patients and staff professionally.
- Maintain confidentiality and provide a respectful, comfortable environment for patients.
- Complete administrative tasks including mail processing and workflow improvements.
- Participate actively in team activities and support a positive work environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree preferred.
- Healthcare experience is advantageous.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare revenue cycle is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is encouraged.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and accuracy.
- Proficiency with insurance verification systems and healthcare software.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and office equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing workloads and priorities.
- Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to collaboration and respect.
Work Schedule Full-time, typically 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Friday, with some variation based on business needs.
