deciBel Research has an immediate opening for a Systems Engineer in Huntsville, AL.Position Description:The Systems Engineer will support the IFICS Data Terminal (IDT) product team on the Ground Based Mid-course Defense (GMD) Weapon System (GWS) program. The candidate should have experience taking on progressively challenging responsibilities, demonstrating initiative, and driving innovative solutions. They should be recognized as a self-starter with a proven ability to lead teams, learn quickly, and deliver results in dynamic environments. In this role the candidate will perform Systems Engineering functions such as requirements decomposition, system design, system integration & test, hardware fault analysis, hardware design (mechanical and electrical), hardware interfaces (mechanical and electrical), testing, and hardware to software interface definition as part of the IDT product team. This team follows an Agile framework using Jira and Confluence to manage their backlog and document progress. The GWS system provides missile defense capabilities that protects and defends the United States of America.Education Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited universityExperience Requirements:5 Years with Bachelors in Science; or 3 years of experience with MastersMust have a background in hardware to include experience with hardware to software interfaces, hardware design (mechanical and electrical), hardware interfaces (mechanical and electrical), testing, and hardware faultsPerform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analysis of total systemsEnsure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraintsPerform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specificationsPrior experience using DOORSFamiliar with Agile terminology and best practicesFamiliar with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and CameoSpecial Skills Desired:Prior experience working on Missile Defense programsPrior experience working with MIL-STD-810 and performing Environmental Qualification Testing (EQT)Prior experience working with Active Electronically Scanned Arrays (AESA)Prior experience working, designing, and/or developing with Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) per MIL-STD-461 and Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) per MIL-STD-464Prior experience working, designing, and/or developing with High-Altitude electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) per MIL-STD-188-125-1 and MIL-STD-188-125-2Prior experience working, designing, and/or developing with Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) per MIL-HDBK-344Strategic Planning & ExecutionInitiative & Process ImprovementCross-Functional CollaborationEffective Communication & Stakeholder ManagementTeam Leadership & MentorshipTaking ownership of high-stakes or challenging tasks.Transitioning into new roles with expanded responsibilities.Driving initiatives that align with company goals or missionApplicant selected must have an active Secret security clearance.
