Technician II

We are looking for a professional technician in Omaha, NE to perform electrical testing, maintenance, and start‑ups of high voltage substations. Duties And Responsibilities Perform electrical testing services on power apparatus, substations, and switchgear including (but not limited to): Protective relaying and relaying systems Circuit Breakers Power Transformers Current and Potential Transformers Meters, Transducers, and power system metering Power Cables Grounding Systems Motors and Motor Starters Station Batteries and Chargers Alarm systems and annunciators Personal Protective Equipment Perform troubleshooting and problem identification and analysis. Make recommendations regarding corrective action and/or repairs. Generate technical reports detailing services provided, problems found, and corrective action taken or recommended. Represent the company in a professional manner regarding communication and interfacing with clients. Communicate effectively with the company management team on a regular basis regarding project status and scheduling of manpower and equipment. Always make safety a top priority, realizing that the company has zero tolerance for those who do otherwise. Perform other job‑related duties as requested by management. Qualifications Power DB knowledge a plus. Word processing, spreadsheet and e‑mail software proficiency. Mathematics, including algebra and trigonometry. Broad knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentals. Broad knowledge of the major components of a substation. Broad knowledge of control and protection systems. Knowledge of high‑voltage electric field theory. Broad knowledge of electrical code and standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI). Broad knowledge of civil / structural codes and standards (NESC, IEEE, ANSI, AISC, ACI). Broad knowledge of the function of major electrical equipment. Broad knowledge of ground grid theory and design. Effective oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of the types of drawings required to construct an electrical substation. Knowledge of drafting standards. Experience working in a team environment. Ability to communicate effectively with co‑workers. Valid driver’s license. Ability to travel 50% of the time.
