About the Position

Job Title: RN - Step Down Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Step Down Duration: Long-Term Shift: AM Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 18 months of recent cardiac unit experience License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: Must have experience with telemetry interpretation and successful completion of a telemetry exam Must-Have: Must be able to independently interpret cardiac rhythms. Must pass a Dysrhythmia Exam on the first attempt without remediation opportunities. Must have experience with common cardiac drips including Insulin, Milrinone, Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Heparin, Lasix, and Nitroglycerin. Chest tube experience is required. A rating of "4" on all cardiac skills on the skills checklist is mandatory. Description: This role is focused on high-acuity, heavily cardiac-centered patient care. Travelers should possess a strong cardiac background. Expect a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 to 1:5. The patient population includes individuals with heart failure, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation, fluid volume overload, chest pain, hypertension, heart transplant cases, congenital heart disease, and LVAD patients. Common procedures include right and left heart catheterizations, TR Band management, sheath removal, stent placements, valve replacement procedures, STEMI/NSTEMI care, pacemaker and ICD management, cardioversions, ablations, and groin site management. Travelers may be required to float to similar cardiac or PCU units as necessary. The role demands comfort with the cardiac acuity and procedures listed.
