College College of Ethnic Studies Position Title 2026-27 AY Lecturer Pool - Chicana/o & Latina/o Studies Department Department of Chicana/o & Latina/o Studies (CLS) Position Details The Chicana/o & Latina/o Studies Department at Cal State LA is opening a pool of part‑time faculty lecturers to be filled as needed during the 2026-2027 academic year. Positions are conditional on enrollment and budget, with initial appointments typically for one semester, and may be renewed based on departmental needs, funding, and performance. Some appointments may require short‑notice availability. Minimum Qualifications Appropriate degree from an accredited university (Bachelor’s with substantial teaching experience for lower division courses; Master’s for upper division undergraduate courses; Doctoral or Master’s with substantial teaching experience for graduate courses). Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level. Ability to relate well in an academic environment and interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural setting. Commitment to student‑centered learning and teaching. Proficiency in written and oral English. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, inclusive environment. Relevant work experience and training. Duties Instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours. Other duties assigned based on departmental needs. Course assignments, dates, times, and modality determined by the Department Chair under the guidance of the College Dean. Salary Lecturer A: $5,507 - $6,677 per month (Full‑time equivalent) Lecturer B: $6,221 - $13,224 per month Lecturer C: $6,825 - $14,523 per month Lecturer D: $8,593 - $15,211 per month The anticipated monthly hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, and most new faculty lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. Official transcripts will be required upon hire offer and prior to employment. Employment is contingent upon proof of eligibility to work in the United States. Additional credential validation: US Equivalency certification is required for earned or awarded foreign terminal degrees. This certification must translate the information in English and confirm that the highest terminal degree is US equivalent to a US Master’s or Doctorate.
