About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intermediate Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 7P-7A Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year of Intermediate/PCU level of care experience. License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with trauma and stroke patients, performing Q2H neuro checks Description: ASAP start needed. Level II Trauma Center that accommodates trauma patients within a 50-mile radius. Experience with neuro strokes, stable craniotomies, CIWA, and seizure precautions required. Medical/surgical experience needed to care for respiratory illnesses, long-term trachs with vents, and respiratory failure requiring Bipap or high-flow oxygen. Knowledge in post-op general surgery, sepsis, IV drug abuse, and thyroid storm management is important. Patient types include cardiac cases such as STEMI, NSTEMI, CHF, and AFIB with RVR. The RN-to-patient ratio will be 1:3-4 during days and nights, and tech-to-patient ratio will be 1:6-12 based on staffing. Charge experience should be disclosed. Neuro/trauma experience is mandatory, specifically with stroke patients. Skills in administering 100% FiO2 via suction support and silencing alarms are necessary. Knowledge of cardiac drips, including Amiodarone and Cardizem, is preferred. Resource nurse is available 24/7 for support along with hospitalists and trauma surgeons. Float to ED, ICU, and CCU as needed. General hospital orientation will precede unit orientation. Weekend rotation will be every other week, with potential for low census call back. Holiday expectations may vary based on unit needs. Scrub color must be professional.
