Job Title: Quality Line Auditor Job Description
The Quality Line Auditor ensures that production lines consistently meet all requirements outlined in Batch Records, product specifications, and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). This role focuses on auditing production processes, inspecting manufacturing equipment for cleanliness, and driving corrective actions to maintain high-quality standards. The Quality Line Auditor also supports a culture of continuous improvement and lean practices while contributing to a diverse manufacturing environment that produces a wide range of consumer products.
Responsibilities- Audit production lines on time with a strong focus on detail to verify conformance to Batch Records, product specifications, and cGMP requirements.
- Inspect manufacturing equipment for cleanliness and readiness prior to and during production.
- Accurately record audit results in Batch Records and other required documentation.
- Initiate corrective adjustments to manufacturing processes when needed, document all adjustments, and perform documented rechecks to verify that changes are effective.
- Escalate issues according to established procedures to ensure timely correction and containment.
- Immediately report non-conformances and quality concerns to the Quality Unit.
- Support investigations of quality events as needed to identify root causes and help resolve issues.
- Comply at all times with Standard Work, cGMP, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Work Instructions.
- Understand, promote, and maintain a culture of lean action within the department, striving to continuously improve processes and eliminate waste.
- Implement and maintain standards and processes that reduce or eliminate waste throughout the department.
- Apply and utilize lean tools to implement permanent process improvements.
- Institutionalize 5S (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain) in all aspects of the department to maintain an organized and efficient work area.
- Perform visual inspections and quality checks on products and processes as required.
- Support internal audits and contribute to quality assurance and quality control activities.
- Perform other work and related duties as assigned to support production and quality objectives.
- High School Diploma.
- Prior auditing or inspection experience preferred, particularly in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Prior exposure to quality assurance and quality control processes preferred.
- Knowledge of quality assurance, quality control, and quality inspection practices.
- Understanding of cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) and SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) compliance.
- Experience with inspection, quality checks, and visual inspection in a production setting.
- Ability to read and write in English, including accurately completing Batch Records and quality documentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective multi-tasking skills with the ability to manage multiple audits or tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated sense of urgency and responsiveness to quality issues and production needs.
- Critical thinking skills to identify non-conformances, evaluate root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Strong organizational skills to manage documentation, audit schedules, and follow-up activities.
- Ability to stand and walk frequently (4 to 6 hours per day).
- Ability to perform infrequent to moderate bending, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, reaching, lifting, and grasping.
- Ability to perform infrequent to moderate repetitive motion and hand/wrist movement.
- Ability to work at a computer terminal on an infrequent to moderate basis.
- Good eyesight and normal hearing to effectively perform inspections and communicate in the work environment.
- Fluency in the English language.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment with quality inspection responsibilities.
- Background in internal auditing or participation in internal quality audits.
- Familiarity with lean principles and tools used to drive continuous improvement and waste reduction.
- Experience implementing or maintaining 5S practices (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain).
- Exposure to diverse consumer products such as beauty, bath and body, lip balms, skincare, sunscreens, and cleaning detergents.
- Interest in long-term career growth, with the potential to move into roles such as QA Analyst or QA Specialist after 2–3 years of strong performance.
- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and in a cyclical workflow environment with changing priorities.
- Capability to handle moderate interruptions in workflow and adapt to starting and stopping tasks based on production and customer requirements.
- Comfort with occasional work hours beyond the normal workday based on business demands.
- Willingness and ability to move and lift objects, sometimes up to 50 lbs frequently.
This role is based at a manufacturing facility in Chaska and operates on a second shift schedule, typically from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a shift differential for second shift work. Depending on business needs and incoming components, 5–10 hours of overtime per week may be required, although the frequency and amount can vary. The position may require work hours beyond the normal workday and involves moderate to high demand for meeting tight deadlines. The work is cyclical in nature and includes moderate interruptions in workflow, with tasks starting and stopping based on production schedules and customer requirements. Travel is limited. The environment is indoors and can be seasonally cold, hot, or humid. Team members may be exposed to various fragrances, which at times may be present at elevated levels. The role involves frequent standing and walking for 4 to 6 hours per day, as well as infrequent to moderate bending, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, reaching, lifting, grasping, and repetitive hand or wrist motion. Working at a computer terminal occurs on an infrequent to moderate basis. The facility supports a diverse manufacturing environment with exposure to a wide range of products, including beauty, bath and body, lip balms, skincare, sunscreens, cleaning detergents, and more. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
