Director Of Nursing

Position Summary:

The Director of Nursing manages and directs resident care within the nursing department in order to maintain resident standards of care and ensure that each resident functions at his/her highest level.

Responsibilities for a Director of Nursing (DON):

• Coordinates resident care through departmental and appropriate staff committee meetings
• Ensures that staffing is adequate to meet State and Federal requirements
• Guides nursing department in adherence to all state and federal regulations
• Evaluates and disciplines nursing personnel according to HCF policy
• Supervises the maintenance of nursing and medical treatments and related services executed by nursing personnel
• Participates in the QA process
• Ensures availability of nursing supplies and equipment
• Assumes responsibility for maintaining his/her own professional competence
• Verifies that the nursing personnel have valid and current licenses as required by the State in which they work

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing. Current license as a Registered Nurse with the State Board of Nursing. CPR certification recommended.
