RN – Operating Room12 weeks | 40 hours/week | 8-hour shifts Day Shift: 06:30–15:00 Call: 2 weekday calls and every 3rd–4th weekend callMUST-HAVE EXPERIENCECardiac OR | Vascular OR | Hybrid OR Must be able to Scrub & CirculateJob Summary: To provide nursing care for patients following established standards and practices in accordance with the South Carolina Nurse Practice Act. To apply professional nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.Contacts: Constant interaction with internal and external customers, including but not limited to patients, families, physicians, employees, and visitors.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPerform patient assessments reflecting physical, psychological, socio-cultural, spiritual, cognitive needs, and functional abilities through systematic collection and review of patient-specific data and communicate assessments appropriately. 20%Plan and prioritize care based on assessment, evaluate patient progress, and revise care to attain expected outcomes. Include patients/families in planning care and evaluating programs and outcomes. 20%Demonstrate clinical competencies in the specific area of practice as described in departmental performance standards. 10%Assess patient/family learning needs, plan and provide education, involve other disciplines as needed, and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching in achieving desired outcomes. 10%Identify and respond appropriately to ethical issues in patient care; provide nursing care in a non-judgmental manner that respects patient diversity and acknowledges patient rights. Serve as a resource to others in addressing ethical dilemmas in patient care. 10%Initiate collaborative dialogue with physicians and coordinate multidisciplinary activities to plan, deliver, and evaluate patient care. 10%Act as a patient advocate. 10%Provide nursing care in a non-judgmental manner that respects patient diversity and acknowledges patient rights. Identify resources to meet unique patient needs. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, core measures, patient safety, and quality initiatives to achieve optimal clinical and organizational outcomes. 10%Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.SkillsKnowledge/Skills: Must be able to Scrub and Circulate. Must have Cardiac, Vascular, and Hybrid experience. Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to provide and evaluate patient care. Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care. Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions. Skill in preparing and maintaining records and writing reports. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, hospital staff, medical staff, and the public. Ability to analyze situations and apply critical thinking. Ability to communicate clearly. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.Education: For positions providing direct patient care with the nursing assessment requirement: BSN preferred, or required within five (5) years of hire date. Current RN teammates transferring to another RN position in the same department will not be required to complete BSN within five (5) years of transfer date. Current RN teammates transferring to another RN position in a different department will be required to complete BSN within five (5) years of transfer date.Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of South Carolina or holds a current compact/multistate license as a Registered Nurse in a recognized NCSBN Compact State and is not a permanent resident of South Carolina. Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card required.Work Demands/Environment: Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, and stooping. Frequent lifting/moving patients. Intermittent lifting, moving, or carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity. Constant reaching with hands/arms. Frequent talking or hearing. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue. Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases, and/or other conditions common to a healthcare environment. Intermittent exposure to risk of blood-borne pathogens. Moderate noise level in work area. Requires work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours. May be required to take call and/or work weekends/holidays based on the needs of the department.
