Ultrasound Technologist II

Location: Texas Medical Center, Houston, TX Salary Range: $70,618 to $85,000 FLSA Status: Nonexempt Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Summary The Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Ultrasound Technologist II to support clinical operations within the Division of Vascular Surgery. This role is responsible for performing high-quality vascular ultrasound examinations, assisting physicians with diagnostic and interventional procedures, and ensuring exceptional patient care in a fast-paced academic clinical environment. The Ultrasound Technologist II works collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical staff to support accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing patient monitoring. This position is located at our McNair Campus. Job Duties Operates ultrasound imaging equipment to produce diagnostic-quality images. Performs vascular ultrasound examinations in accordance with established protocols and standards. Monitors examinations in real time by evaluating images on video display, ensuring image quality, accuracy, and consistency; make equipment adjustments as needed. Records, labels, and securely stores appropriate diagnostic images and data. Provides direct patient care throughout the examination process, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and clear communication. Assists physicians during invasive and non-invasive procedures by performing preliminary scans and providing real-time ultrasound guidance as needed. Prepares examination documentation and reports to support physician interpretation and patient follow-up. Maintains ultrasound equipment, including routine quality checks; order and manage supplies and ensure equipment readiness. Maintains accurate and complete medical records in accordance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements. Performs other job-related duties as assigned to support clinical and departmental operations. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Three years of relevant experience. Registration as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Preferred Qualifications Registered Vascular Technologist.
