Job Description
Technical Source is hiring an Automation Support Engineer for a long-term, onsite opportunity in Concord, NC. This role focuses on supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing operations by troubleshooting and maintaining Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PLCs and FactoryTalk HMI/SCADA systems on live production lines. You'll serve as a key resource for resolving automation issues, supporting production uptime, working within GMP and SOP requirements, and collaborating with operations and maintenance teams. We're looking for engineers with pharma/life sciences automation experience, strong Rockwell/FactoryTalk troubleshooting skills, and experience working in GMP-regulated environments.

\nWeekend Shift: Thursday-Sunday, 10:00 AM-9:00 PM
\nNight Shift: Thursday-Sunday, 6:00 PM-8:00 AM
\n \nThe engagement is long-term, expected to run through at least 2027, with a minimum requested commitment of 12 months from each contractor.
\n \nThe ideal candidate profile is a self-sufficient pharma automation engineer with solid Rockwell experience, who has already operated in GMP environments and is comfortable being the primary support resource. Technical strength must be matched by the ability to navigate procedures and communicate with production teams under pressure.

- 5+ years of hands-on automation experience in pharma or closely related life sciences manufacturing (GMP required). \n
- Demonstrated experience supporting formulation, filling, packaging, or other sterile/regulated production lines (not just lab or utilities, if possible). \n
- Strong background with Rockwell / Allen-Bradley PLCs (Studio 5000) in live production support environments. \n
- Proven troubleshooting skills with FactoryTalk-based HMI/SCADA (e.g., FactoryTalk View SE/ME) and related automation components. \n
- Clear history of working under SOPs and within change control, deviation, and validation frameworks. \n
- Ability to support off-shift as needed. \n
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with operators, maintenance, and site leadership, as well as for documentation and shift handoffs. \n
- Ability to work methodically and conservatively in a regulated environment. \n
- Self-starting personality with a track record of taking ownership of issues, following through, and knowing when to escalate. \n
