Location Description

Post Consumer Brands in Jonesboro, Ark. is home to more than 200 team members. Jonesboro may be a smaller town, but it has a strong performing arts scene, multiple schools, and a diverse geography with sports and outdoor recreation opportunities for everyone. The Post Jonesboro team supports the community through food pantry volunteering and an annual toy drive during the holiday season.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Site Supply Chain Manager the Material Planner is accountable for the material replenishment and delivery of packaging, ingredients and/or commodities to the Plant in a manner which will ensure quality materials are available to meet the needs of the production plan; includes maintaining inventory levels of materials within the range set forth. Primary responsibilities of the Material Planner are to prepare, plan, and control material supply within the facility. It is important to follow the standard processes and leverage technology to positively impact results. Support, implement, and maintain food safety and quality practices as required through SQF. Other key functions the position works with:

  • Vendor Partners – to assure material supply

  • Production Planning – to assure material supply

  • Transportation – to help achieve on time delivery on inbound product movement

  • Quality – to ensure quality materials

  • Corporate Purchasing – to replenish materials against in place contracts

Responsibilities and Accountabilities :

  • Develop and implement material replenishment strategies that optimize supply availability, inventory investments, and risk of obsolescence

  • Generate a material replenishment plan by coordinating and executing material purchases and deliveries to meet internal and external Customer service objectives

  • Manage inventory levels for a complex array of items; aligning material requirements with the production plan, external suppliers and transportation providers; releasing orders; and coordinating related activities

  • Interface with Corporate Purchasing, Production Planning, Quality and Operationsto create an inventory plan that ensures operations and product development requirements are met and alter replenishment plans to meet unforeseen conditions

  • Optimize inventory turns while maintaining 100% fill rates to Line Supply

  • Review and participate in the disposition of non-compliant, excess and obsolete packaging, commodities and ingredients

  • Communicate causes and impacts of inventory outages and material quality concerns; follow escalation procedures to inform, reduce or eliminate risk of a line shutdown

  • Monitor and review materials for disposal, align with Corporate business processes

  • Demonstrate continuous improvement in the material replenishmentprocess

  • Coordinate activities to pursue opportunities and resolve issues. Document, communicate and follow-up on action plans

  • Track and report Key Performance Indicators, perform root cause analysis and make the appropriate revisions within the material replenishment plan

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor degree in Supply Chain, Business, Accounting or related field is preferred

  • Integrated planning systems training like ERP/DRP/MPS/MRP/CRP is required

  • Professional certification from APICS and/or ISM is desirable

Experience:

  • Would prefer a minimum of 8 years of combined related experience operating in areas of inventory control, production scheduling, master planning, demand management, capacity management, materials management, or distribution resource planning; with preference in food processing/packaging

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing systems and processes

  • Able to build relationships
