Help advance the ASPCA’s mission by building and strengthening relationships with major donors throughout the Midwest, securing critical philanthropic support for animal welfare programs and priorities.

What You’ll Do
The Senior Manager, Philanthropy, Midwest Region serves as a front-line fundraiser responsible for a portfolio of 125+ major donors in key Midwest markets. This position is responsible for securing five- and six-figure gifts, developing personalized cultivation and stewardship strategies, conducting donor visits and engagement activities, tracking donor activity, and serving as a regional Advancement team lead for Midwest-related initiatives and donor engagement opportunities.
Senior Manager, Philanthropy – Midwest Region reports directly to the Senior Director, Philanthropy – Western Region and has no direct reports.
Where and When You’ll Work
This remote-based position (Midwest preferred) is open to all eligible candidates based within the United States.
Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% annually, as needed.

The target hiring range is based on where the employee works, which for remote roles is the employee’s primary location of residence, and its respective cost of labor . Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to education, training, experience, location, business needs, internal equity, market demands or budgeted amount for the role. The target hiring range is for new hire offers only, and compensation may increase beyond the maximum hiring range based on performance over time. The maximum of the hiring range is reserved for candidates with the highest qualifications and relevant experience. The expected hiring salary ranges for this role are set forth below and may be modified in the future. The target hiring range for this role is

Zone 2: $86,000 - $91,000
Zone 3: $95,000 - $100,000

Major Gift Fundraising
- Prepare and implement a strategic plan for the cultivation and solicitation of an assigned portfolio of 125+ major donors with capacity to make $10,000+ annual gifts.
- Achieve annual revenue goals and assist in meeting departmental goals.
- Act decisively upon prospect leads identified through research or referrals.
- Conduct in-person visits, virtual meetings, program site visits, and other donor interactions to strengthen relationships and advance giving opportunities.
- Develop personalized donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies, including tailored correspondence and communications.
Donor Engagement & Portfolio Management
- Build relationships with ASPCA program staff, communications staff, and other internal stakeholders to support donor engagement and solicitation efforts.
- Develop familiarity with and expertise in ASPCA programs and facilities throughout the Midwest, including the ASPCA Equine Transition and Adoption Center, Animal Relocation waystation, and National Field and Disaster Response warehouse.
- Track donor engagement activity and maintain accurate donor records in portfolio files and Salesforce.
- Contribute to the development of stewardship materials and donor communications.
- Handle sensitive donor information and internal materials with discretion and professionalism.
Regional Leadership & Team Support
- Serve as the lead for the Advancement team in the Midwest, including providing internal program updates and sharing external field trends.
- Support the execution of regional stewardship events for ASPCA major donors and VIPs.
- Contribute to internal team systems, including revenue reporting, analysis, and record keeping.
- Keep current on trends in relationship-based fundraising and philanthropy through professional development activities.
- Develop strong familiarity with the ASPCA Equine Transition and Adoption Center (ETAC), partners and staff in Texas, the Animal Relocation waystation, and the Missouri National Field Response field station.
- Support additional departmental priorities, special projects, and other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Solid knowledge of fundraising principles, annual giving best practices, and donor stewardship/moves management.
- Ability to develop and execute creative strategies to advance major gift opportunities.
- Strong relationship-building skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams and maintain positive working relationships.
- Strong written, oral, and public speaking skills
- Strong research, critical thinking, and analytical abilities.
- Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail, including editing and organizational skills.
- Effective influencing and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and fundraising databases required (Salesforce preferred); experience with Airtable and Canva is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
- 3 or more years of professional fundraising experience, including major gifts, annual giving, mid-level donor programs, or donor relations required
- Experience implementing fundraising principles, including donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship required.
- Experience cultivating and soliciting individuals for gifts of $5,000+ required
- Experience managing donor relationships and developing and implementing moves management strategies required
