Sample Lab Technician

This Technician role is integral to the sample testing area, involving the preparation of seed samples for planting, germinating, and growing starter plants to gather data on yields and seed performance.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare samples
• Clean glassware, maintain stock and chemical inventory, and clean the workspace.
• Document processes and results via paper and LIMS to track samples and provide data for customers.

Essential Skills:

• Attention to detail verified by references.
• Great communication skills (written and verbal) verified by references.
• Interest in and openness to the sciences.
• Proven tenure at a company with 1-2 years of working experience at the same organization.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• No degree is required.
• Familiarity with agronomy, biology, and laboratory practices.
• Experience with documentation and lab management systems.

Work Environment:

The work environment is a third-party testing lab that supports crop producers by testing yields and seed performance to ensure successful growing seasons. Technicians may stand or sit for extended periods, with tasks requiring movement, bending, twisting, and lifting of up to 10-25 pounds. The environment is temperature-controlled, with occasional warmer days, and is not noisy. Personal protective equipment is required when handling chemicals and cleaning dishware. The role requires proficiency in English to read work instructions. Work hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break and 15-minute paid breaks. Overtime opportunities are available, especially from October to March when a weekend shift is offered. Casual dress code is maintained in this lab environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of River Falls, WI.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $36400.00 - $36400.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
