Lead Commercial HVAC Service Technician

Location: Farmingdale, NY (Headquarters)
Territory: Long Island & New York City
Compensation: $55–$65/hour + Overtime + Company Vehicle + Benefits

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced  Lead Commercial HVAC Service Technician to join our growing team. This is a leadership role for a highly skilled technician who enjoys solving complex mechanical issues, mentoring junior technicians, and serving as the go-to field expert for commercial HVAC systems.

Based out of our Farmingdale, NY headquarters, you will travel throughout  Long Island and the five boroughs of New York City , servicing a diverse portfolio of commercial, industrial, healthcare, retail, office, educational, and institutional facilities.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC systems including:
• • RTUs (Rooftop Units)
  • Split Systems
  • Chillers
  • Boilers
  • Cooling Towers
  • VAV Systems
  • VRF/VRV Systems
  • Air Handlers
  • Package Units
  • Pumps and Hydronic Systems
• Perform preventative maintenance and emergency service calls.
• Lead and mentor field technicians while providing technical guidance and troubleshooting support.
• Handle complex service calls independently with minimal supervision.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
• Commission new HVAC equipment and verify proper system operation.
• Communicate professionally with customers, property managers, and facility engineers.
• Complete detailed service reports using mobile technology.
• Ensure all work complies with OSHA regulations, company safety standards, and local building codes.
• Coordinate with the service manager to prioritize daily service schedules and customer needs.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of commercial HVAC service experience.
• Proven leadership or lead technician experience preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting skills on commercial HVAC equipment.
• Experience with electrical diagnostics, controls, and refrigeration systems.
• EPA Universal Certification required.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple service calls.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work on ladders, rooftops, and mechanical rooms.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Trane, Carrier, Daikin, York, Lennox, Mitsubishi, LG, or similar commercial systems.
• Building Automation Systems (BAS/DDC) experience.
• OSHA 30 Certification.
• Factory certifications are a plus.
