Step into a precision-focused role at our Downers Grove–area operation, where we build critical components for demanding industries. You’ll join a team known for technical excellence, exacting standards, and a supportive environment for skilled tradespeople.
A day in this role- Power up, set, and dial in OD and ID cylindrical grinders (Landis, Studer, Tschudin, Cincinnati, etc.) for tight-tolerance work.
- Study complex blueprints, job packets, and GD&T callouts to plan setups, wheel selection, and dressing strategies.
- Machine tool steels and heat-treated alloys to exact sizes and surface finish requirements.
- Run in-process checks using micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges; verify conformance to strict quality standards.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot machine issues to keep throughput steady.
- Maintain an orderly, safe, and clean work area.
- 3+ years independently setting up and operating OD/ID grinders (e.g., Landis, Studer, Tschudin, Cincinnati, etc.).
- Proven track record holding very tight tolerances and achieving specified surface finishes.
- Deep knowledge of conventional grinding, wheel selection, and dressing techniques.
- Advanced blueprint reading capability with strong GD&T fluency.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical/trade schooling is a plus.
- Consistent attendance and an unwavering commitment to quality and safety.
