Principal EngineerReporting directly to the Director of Electrical Engineering, the Principal Engineer will be responsible for:Electrical engineering design aspects of capital projects, facility upgradesElectrical design support for planned outages, and design requirements related to equipment troubleshootingBusiness development/expansion projects at various operating facilitiesThis position will also lead, manage and execute multiple electrical projects/programs in the network. The Engineer will provide subject matter expertise and lead cross functional teams while driving technical standardization as a guardian of certain Electrical Design Standards for Reworld. Acting as a potential mentor for more junior members of the team, the Engineer will share best practices and technical expertise. This is a unique opportunity to work across stakeholders and groups, with high visibility in the organization and will have direct, tangible impact on our success. You will also act as a primary Electrical Engineering SME to the business.Preferred location for this role is at our Florham Park, NJ Headquarters. This position requires close collaboration with corporate functions and facilities and will include ~20% travel across the network. Travel to domestic locations as well as LCC (Low-Cost-Countries) such as China, may be required. A remote work option is available with some additional travel to Florham Park and across the network. The compensation would vary depending on the location.Key Responsibilities:Independently Develop/Review/Approve Electrical System Design documents including One Line/Three Line Diagrams, Control Schematics, Wiring diagrams, Arc Flash, Short Circuit & Voltage Drop Calculations, Coordination Studies.Develop scope of work for Electrical AE firms and coordinate with suppliers and contractors.Plans design tasks so both the design and construction will be achieved within budget constraints and schedule.May assume the duties of technical lead and subject matter expert for small to medium capital programs.Electrical Design scope includes System Design, Scope Development, Engineering Calculations, Specifications, and Risk Assessments for HV, MV systems (Switchgears, transformers, Motor Control Centers, Relay/Protection Systems).Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications for engineering design.Guardian of Key Electrical Design Standards/Specifications as SME for Reworld Electrical Team.Update design standards and specifications periodically to keep up with the industry best practices, regulatory developments etc.Provide SME design support to Project Managers on assigned construction projects Provide engineering support for commissioning and installations for assigned design projectsProvides Electrical Engineering design troubleshooting support to plant operations. Analyze Electrical failure root causes and develop cost effective technical solutions for RCAs.Position Requirements:Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited Institution. Minimum 10 years engineering experience.Registered Professional Engineer or the ability to obtain future licensure is preferred.Must have experience with High, Medium & Low Voltage distribution systems and electrical power generation in large utility power plants or large industrial co-generation facilities or Design/Architectural Engineering firms.Must be able to work on multiple concurrent projects with minimal supervision.Must have proficiency in developing and understanding One Line/Three Line Diagrams, DC Control Schematics, Wiring diagrams, GA drawings related to interconnections, substations, power plants and electrical aspects of process plants including but not limited to motors, MCCs, PDCs and other electrical equipment.Must have experience with all phases of a project including preliminary conceptual system design, scoping, detailed design, equipment selection, equipment testing and start-up problem resolution. (The equipment includes substation equipment, power plant equipment and process plant equipment. The voltage ranges vary from HV(>100KV) to low voltage (480V).Experience with protective relaying schemes (Medium Voltage) including coordination and development of relay settings. It is expected that most qualified candidates in this location will fall within the posting range. The final salary offered for this role will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to: experience, education, geographic location, skills and competencies, travel requirements and/or union contracts (if applicable).
